Day 36 – Broome

Another lazy day today, always nice! We started the day by heading down to the Courthouse market, held in the grounds of (you guess it), the old courthouse. There were lots of interesting stalls, some quite different handmade things which was nice to browse through. Yes, Brendan did buy me something (after I twisted his arm, and reminded me it is my birthday next month) – a necklace & earrings (silver and rose gold boab trees).

We went for a walk around the Town Beach area again, marvelling at the amazing tides – the water seemed miles out. There is something about looking out into that endless, turquoise sea that is just mesmerising.

We also had a brief walk along Streeters Jetty, the place the old pearl luggers used to come in from the sea, and tie up. You can still see some of the old anchors and ropes attached to the jetty. These days the jetty is surrounded by mangroves.

Our last sunset visit to Cable Beach tonight – we couldn’t help ourselves it is just so beautiful, so we packed up some pre-dinner snacks, the picnic rug, and off we drove along the beach again to find ourselves a beautiful, quiet spot to browse for shells, eat our snacks, and watch the sun set over the water. Life doesn’t get any better than this!
